Quick Access Casing Doors
Nooter/Eriksen offers competitively priced quick opening casing manway doors that do not require the use of tools for opening. The doors incorporate nutted-handles for sealing and operate on a davit arm to avoid the inconvenience of lifting and the need to break down the door into smaller components. This design offers no direct path for heat conduction greatly reducing the risk of hot spots. Doors are available in any size up to 6’ tall to allow easy access for large equipment such as scaffolding and fully assembled sky-climbers. These doors can easily be retrofitted into the existing HRSG casing and liner system with minimal work in the field; a typical installation can be accomplished in a single day.

Liner System Upgrades
Most HRSGs employ floating liner systems that allows for thermal expansion on the internal liner surface while providing the necessary insulation to provide a cool external casing.

Failures in the casing and liner system can not only cause major hotspots and degradation of the casing system itself but can also lead to catastrophic insulation loss. This loose insulation can then foul coil fins or clog the downstream catalyst systems. These catalyst systems are critical to emissions control and can be compromised by such damage. The backpressure caused by such fouling can also lead to forced outages due to combustion turbine trips associated with high back pressure. In addition to these problems, a high enough back pressure can cause structural issues with the frame systems that hold the catalyst blocks in place. In the most severe circumstances, they can be dislodged and damage downstream tube bundles. As such, it is critical to maintain these liner systems and employ the proper combination of design features and materials to ensure long lasting and reliable HRSG functionality.

Plants upgrade combustion turbines, burners and other equipment. Often overlooked, but of critical importance, is the casing and liner system. Failures in the liner systems can be caused by not properly considering the changing design conditions associated with such upgrades as. Burner Observation Ports
After years of operation and upgrades it is not uncommon that additional observation ports are needed to accommodate better viewing of the burner system, particularly where signs of flame impingement of the tube field are a concern. Proper observation of the burner flames shape and length is critical to maximizing the life not only of the burner elements, but also the downstream tube surface. Proper observation also helps to understand performance impacts of the burner operation and also head off problems in the burner system before it can cause significant damage to other HRSG components. Nooter/Eriksen can supply additional observation ports and the casing and liner components needed to ensure proper function of the liner system.
